Receipt processing

Ok Intuit, where are you!? My girlfriend and I are dutifully entering all our receipts into a spreadsheet. What a pain in the *ss!

I want a 2D barcode printed on my receipt (PDF417 sounds good to me, or maybe good-ol' Aztec Code) that encodes the transaction details. Then I want a USB scanner to read all my receipts.

The challenge is the incentive structure to get all the point-of-sale folks to convert. Any ideas here? I'm still thinking. Seems like you could start with a few folks -- gas stations, grocery store chains?
